BBC Motorcyle Review magazine
Editor for a season-long review of MotoGP, World SBK and British Superbikes racing
BBC Magazines commissioned me to produce a bookazine reviewing all the racing action across a season of MotoGP, World SBK and British Superbikes.
Leading an editorial and design team, I planned, executed and delivered the magazine the day after the final race of the season, so it was published and on shelves immediately.
Working with experienced journalists from the BBC and other respected motorcycling broadcasters and writers, we secured an exclusive interview with Valentino Rossi and featured in-depth articles as well as reports from each individual race.
It was sold at WHSmith counters nationally.

Motorcycle racing arouses deep passions with its army of fans. I wanted to tap into that, showcasing the excitement of the racing and chronicling the full story of the ups and downs of the season with a reporting timeline. We showed the standings month-by-month, along with key riders and incidents, all accompanied by some spectacular imagery.
But the bookazine also needed to be accessible for those with less knowledge of the sport. So it featured explanations of the differences between MotoGP bikes and Superbikes. It went in-depth in interviews with riders and industry insiders, and painted a picture of the danger and excitement that sums up the sport.
My work included assembling a small team, on a limited budget, who could deliver the magazine to a very tight deadline. I had full editorial control, working closely with the Publisher and designers on content planning, layouts, target audience, sales and marketing, and securing the industry experts needed to give it kudos.
They included MotoGP broadcasters, commentators and journalists Suzi Perry, Julian Ryder and Michael Scott, who worked with me throughout the season to deliver copy. I also wrote a large portion of the magazine myself.
